I thought that Penny was a great main character and I loved reading about her new life in Hogs Hollow. It was such a fast read for me (regardless of how long the book has been on my sidebar under Currently Reading) and I enjoyed it. That’s the word that I’d use to describe this book. A sweet novel about love, creativity, and accepting life’s unexpected turns. But just when it looks as though Penny is settling in, her parents ask her to make a choice that will turn everything upside down again. ![]() There are also bright spots in Hog’s Hollow-like Tally, an expert in Rock Paper Scissors, and Marcus, the boy who is always running on the beach. And then there’s Charity, the girl who plays mean pranks almost daily. Her father has stayed behind, and Mom isn’t talking about what the future holds for their family. ![]() When her mother moves them from the city to a small town to open up a cupcake bakery, Penny’s life isn’t what she expected. Forcing two daughters to prostitute themselves for money and one to raise money to get her brother out of jail. Abuse is a light word for how she treats her children. Her children also know something is not quite right about their Mother. Was she mentally ill? What she incredibly mean? There is something just off about her and the Author never really tells us what. She has 10 children from different fathers and she is a disturbing woman. The book begins when Rozelle tells her employer that it is her last day of work because she is going to die over the weekend. I found that I could not read this book fast. That is not always a good thing with this book as there is a tremendous amount of abuse in this book. ![]() The writing was so wonderful and vivid that I could see/imagine what was happening. Why has this Author not written another book? Perhaps this was the only story she needed to tell. ![]() ![]() When she had been ready to finally give up on the concept she goes on one more date, which unfortunately for her ends up being her worst one yet. Marie has been a victim of online dating on more than one occasion. Penny outdid herself with Matt and Marie’s story, it was so good I’m still hugging my kindle. I know I say this every time I review a book from this series, but I really believe that Dating-ish might be my most favorite book yet.
